GLEN ELLYN – Nathan Gaertner, a senior at Glenbard West High School, has been named a 2015 U.S. Presidential Scholar finalist, Gaertner announced in a news release.
He is one of 3,900 nationwide to take part in the program.
Gaertner maintains a 5.64 GPA on a 5.0 scale and has earned several academic honors, including being named a National Merit Scholarship finalist, a 2015 Illinois State Scholar and scoring a top composite score of 36 on the ACT.
He is also involved in soccer, National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, West Students for the Disabled, marching band, symphonic band and Senior Mentor Club. He is the son of Eric and Anne Gaertner.
The Commission on Presidential Scholars will make the final selection of the scholars, which will be announced by the U.S. Department of Education in May.
