Lighting the Village of Addison Christmas tree

SPONSORED

Come and celebrate the holiday season on Friday, Dec. 5 as the beautiful Village of Addison Christmas tree is lit by Mayor Rich Veenstra, Miss Addison 2014, Samantha Slater, and Santa and Mrs. Claus.

All are invited to stop in at Addison Village Hall, 1 Friendship Plaza, for what’s sure to be a fun evening for all ages. Oh, and don’t forget your camera because there will be plenty of great photo opportunities for children. This will be an ideal and convenient time to take the perfect picture for this year’s holiday card.

Beginning at 5 p.m., Santa and Mrs. Claus will be ready to listen to children’s wish lists inside the rotunda near the Christmas tree. Some of Santa’s friends, including Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer, as well his elves, will say hello and pose for pictures. The elves will take a break from building toys and make free balloon animals for the kids.

After kicking back for a horse-drawn wagon ride through Friendship Plaza and the Historical District campus you may need some warming up.

No worries, the Kiwanis Club of Addison will be handing out cups of free hot chocolate, and while supplies last, Muggs ‘N Manor will provide free hot dogs and Clyde’s Delicious Donuts will serve free donuts, and the Knights of Columbus will serve popcorn. Also, Uncle Harry’s Ice Cream is planning on selling seasonal ice cream and pastries.

At 7 p.m. in the board room on the second floor of Village Hall, the Addison Trail “Shades of Blue” ensemble and students from Stone and Lake Park elementary schools will provide musical entertainment to get everyone into the spirit of the season. The tree will be lit after the music concludes.
