Nazareth's Nolan Dean runs downfield during the Roadrunners' 42-7 win against Bloomington in the season opener on Aug. 30.

LA GRANGE PARK – With plenty of preseason hype, Nazareth lived up to expectations in the season opener.

The Roadrunners cruised past Bloomington 42-7 in a game that was a blowout early on. Nazareth took the lead on a safety and scored two touchdowns in the first four minutes of the game.

By the end of the first quarter, Naz (1-0) led 30-0 after a 40-yard touchdown run from senior Nolan Dean. Dean, a transfer from Neuqua Valley, easily adjusted to the Roadrunners' offense thanks to the team's big and talented offensive line.

"You see the holes open up and you try to juke out defenders, but it's just our linemen," Dean said. "It's just big holes. We have a great line."

Nazareth led 42-0 by halftime.

The Roadrunners take on Riverside Brookfield (1-0) next Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
