D-41 teacher a finalist for national children's literature award

GLEN ELLYN – A Glen Ellyn School District 41 teacher has been nominated for a children's literature award, according to a news release from Kabuki Helps, the group that sponsors the award.

P.J. Hartenaus has been selected as a finalist for the Children’s Literature Independently Published Principals’ Award for her book, "My Sometimes Pal."

The award honors outstanding children’s books that offer fun, learning and creativity and were self-published by independent authors. Entries were judged on originality, learning quality and use of language standards by a committee comprising nine elementary school principals, educators and authors from across the country.

The winners will be announced Oct. 1.
