RIVERSIDE – Two suspects held for allegedly stealing bikes in Riverside have been released, according to Riverside police.

The Riverside Police Department held a 15-year-old Forest Park resident and a 22-year-old Lyons man on Tuesday after they were seen riding bikes in the village and dragging another behind them. Both were stopped at Southcote and Uvedale roads at 2 p.m. Tuesday and taken into custody.

According to Sgt. Frank Lara, both were released within three hours of being stopped without charges. The 15-year-old was released to a parent.

"There were no charges, we couldn't locate a victim," Lara said.

The case is still under investigation and Riverside police are holding the three bikes.

Information about the bikes was sent to area police departments. Lara said the case would move forward if someone were to claim them.

The Riverside Police Department asked any residents who have had a bike stolen recently to contact investigators at 708-447-2127.
