Registration open for annual Talkie Trot

ELMHURST – Registration is open for the 2nd Annual Talkie Trot – Run for Fun, Run for One.

The event, formerly called Brianna & Friends Walk to Talk, aims to raise awareness and funds for DuPage County's Center for Speech and Language Disorders in Lombard.

The top male and female runners will win $250 gift cards courtesy of Runner’s Soul and Fleet Feet. Second- and third-place finishers will also receive prizes. Additionally, all registered boys and girls, kindergarten through eighth grade, are automatically entered into a raffle to win a 10-speed bike. There will be one boy winner and one girl winner, courtesy of Olympia Chiropractic and Physical Therapy, according to a news release.

Returning this year are live music, Moon Jump, Thomas the Train, goodie bags for participants, and the Jesse White Tumblers.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., HB Jones will donate a portion of food purchases to the center. For a $10 adult admission fee and $5 for kids, the restaurant will host live entertainment, raffles and a silent auction with sports memorabilia, event tickets, and gift cards.

The 5k run/walk begins at 9 a.m. followed by the One Mile Kids’ Dash at 9:45 a.m. Sept. 14 at the corner of York and South streets.
