DuPage County Board Member Liz Chaplin to challenge Ron Sandack for Illinois House seat

Published: Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014 11:59 a.m. CST

DOWNERS GROVE – Democrat Liz Chaplin will look to unseat incumbent Republican State Rep. Ron Sandack this fall in the 81st District race.

Chaplin, a DuPage County Board member and Downers Grove resident, launched her campaign website this month.

Sandack narrowly survived a contentious primary battle in March against Keith Matune, a Downers Grove District 99 School Board member.

Sandack is an attorney and the former mayor of Downers Grove who served in the Illinois Senate from 2010-13. Redistricting would have forced him to face Senate Minority Leader Christine Radogno to keep that seat, so he instead ran for and won his current 81st House District seat in the last election cycle.
