BENSENVILLE – Bensenville Village President Frank Soto accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge in front of a crowd of more than 1,000 guests at the village's weekly Music in the Park series Wednesday.

The evening's performer, Rick Saucedo as Elvis (right), and Murray Weiner of Entertainment Management Group did the honors of dumping the bucket of ice water on Soto's head to raise awareness for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS.

ALS, commonly referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord.

For more information about the disease or challenge, visit The ALS Association's website at alsa.org.
