Hinsdale police take on Ice Bucket Challenge

HINSDALE – The Hinsdale Police Department accepted the ALS challenge from one of its own staff members Wednesday morning.

A number of cops quickly accepted the challenge, according to a news release from the Hinsdale Police Department.

Hinsdale Fire Department on-duty firefighters and paramedics joined Village Manager Kathleen Gargano, pouring more 25 gallons of water on on the police officers, according to the realease.

The ALS challenge is a social media phenomenon that requires anyone who has been challenged to pour ice water on their head and donate money to the ALS Association in its fight against Lou Gehrig's disease.

As of Wednesday, the ALS Association has received $31.5 million in donations. They raised $1.9 million during the same time period last year (July 29 to Aug. 20).
