While in Springfield meeting with legislative staff, getting briefed on top legislative issues and setting up his capitol office, Nybo took a minute to participate in the challenge to raise money for research and treatment of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, according to a news release.
Under the challenge, individuals agree to dump ice water on their heads and challenge friends or colleagues to do the same, while also pledging support for ALS funding and treatment.
Nybo was challenged by his intern Alex Bliss, but his wife Faye, and children Connor, Olivia and Allison, helped out by pouring a bucket of ice water on the state Senator on the steps of the Illinois State Capitol in front of a statue of Abraham Lincoln.
Nybo challenged his friends Laura and Kevin Fitzpatrick of Lombard to take part in the ice bucket challenge. Laura Fitzpatrick is a Lombard village trustee.
Nybo said that for the remainder of the year he will be located in the same office spaces as former Sen. Kirk Dillard, both in Springfield and in Westmont.
