BROOKFIELD – Members of the the Brookfield chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers celebrate Betty White Day at the Brookfield Zoo Aug. 18. The day was named in honor of White, an actress best known for her role on the televisions show 'The Golden Girls,' by Gov. Pat Quinn in 2012 after she came to Illinois to support BraveHearts Therapeutic Riding and Educational Center in Hinsdale. White is dedicated to protecting animals and since the 1970s has been president of the Morris Animal Foundation, which funds veterinary support for animals from dogs to giraffes.
