BERWYN – Morton High School District 201 announced administrative changes at both East and West campuses for the 2014-15 school year.
Assistant Principal Jose Gamboa, who has been on the staff for 13 years as a history teacher, will return as principal, replacing Rudy Hernandez, who served as principal from January to June. Hernandez recently took the position of superintendent for District 99.
Gamboa implemented the C.A.R.E. system at two campuses and aided in the expansion of the Advanced Placement program to increase college opportunities for students.
Randall Borgardt has been named assistant principal. He previously served as assistant principal at Heritage Middle School in Berwyn.
At Morton West, Assistant Principal Joshua McMahon has been named principal. He replaces Joseph Gunty, who served as principal since 2009 and retired at the end of the school year in May. Gunty served in the district since 1982.
During the past three years, McMahon ran the Freshmen Academy at Morton West, where he focused on the educational growth of freshmen students, collaborating with surrounding middle schools.
Former Dean of Students Michael Battle will take the assistant principal’s seat and Norberto Izquierdo will be transferring from the Freshman Center to take on the responsibilities of dean of students.
