RICHMOND – The upcoming fall wine walk will include 10 spots, each with three tastings and some offering treats and giveaways.

The Richmond-Spring Grove Chamber of Commerce puts on the event twice a year in downtown Richmond. The fall walk will take place 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27.

Tickets cost $35 each in advance and include the 30 tastings, a commemorative wine glass and a complimentary bottle of wine. They can be purchased by contacting the Chamber at 815-678-7742.

Proceeds from the event also go toward funding four annual scholarships.

Last year's walk drew more than 125 participants from DeKalb, Crystal Lake, Long Grove and across the border in Wisconsin, up from about 80 the year before.

One business, Anderson's Candy and Chocolate Shop, combined walk festivities with an anniversary celebration featuring free donuts and ice cream. The wines were also paired with chocolate there.

Another business, Miles Family Dental, had a two-piece acoustic band.

Organizers expect that this year's businesses – which include both new and old participants – will step up in new and different ways.
