THUMBS UP: Renovation has begun on the Lombard Metra station. The $9.7 million project will feature a pedestrian underpass, which will eliminate the need for people to cross at track level. In addition to the tunnel, changes will include new retaining walls, ramps that adhere to the Americans With Disabilities Act, stairways, platform shelters, canopies over inbound and outbound platforms, and landscaping. We look forward to watching the transformation.
THUMBS UP: Thanks to Bob Harris for 25 years of service as the Helen Plum Memorial Library director. Harris retires today, which the Lombard Village Board declared Robert Harris Day. Best of luck in the next phase of your life. Also, welcome to incoming director Barb Kruser who takes over the position on Monday. Kruser plans to spend a lot of time out and about in the village getting to know the community.
