Village seeks Senior of the Year nominations

LOMBARD – Nominations are being accepted for Lombard's ninth annual Senior of the Year award.

The village encourages residents to nominate their favorite seniors for the award by Sept. 8. Nominees must have a Lombard mailing address and be 65 years of age or older. Nominations must include a brief statement, 50 words or less, on why the senior should be considered as well as a short biography.

Announcement of the 2014 Senior of the Year award winner will be made at 10 a.m. Oct. 1 at the village's Senior Fair at the Lombard Community Building, 433 E. St. Charles Road.

This Senior Fair, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., will allow attendees to renew their licenses, receive Illinois state ID cards, flu shots and massages. It also offers state and county services specific to seniors and local agencies with information intended for seniors.

There is a waiting list for vendors for the fair. Anyone with questions or vendor participation requests should contact communications coordinator Bridget Doyle at 630-620-5718.
