Man arrested after stabbing at child's birthday party in Riverside

RIVERSIDE – Riverside police announced the arrest of a man who allegedly stabbed a Berwyn man with a broken bottle at a child's birthday party in Riverside Sunday.

According to police, the victim, a 45-year-old man from Berwyn, was either stabbed or fell on the bottle during a fight that broke out in the 500 block of Byrd Road. The Berwyn man was hit on the head with a bottle and fell to the ground unconscious, police said.

Daniel Herrera, 23, of the 2700 block of 55th Street in Chicago, was charged with aggravated battery Thursday, which was approved by the Cook County State's Attorney's office Friday.

A second man was issue a misdemeanor for battery on Monday after he allegedly punched a 31-year-old man who came to the victim's protection.

Felipe E. Herrera, 31, of the 6000 block of South Talman Avenue in Chicago, was charged with one count of misdemeanor battery.

Police said witnesses at the scene were largely uncooperative with police during their investigation.
