WHEATON – The Wheaton Fire Department responded Wednesday to a multi-story house fire, but not before it caused an estimated $150,000 in damages, according to a city news release.

The department was dispatched at about 9 p.m. to 1400 Avery Ave. Crews identified fires on the first and second floors of the residence, and brought them under control in about 15 minutes.

The home was unoccupied at the time and has been deemed uninhabitable.

Investigators from the DuPage County Arson Task Force determined the fire was not suspicious and the building was turned over to the owner

First responders from several neighboring towns assisted the department throughout the incident.
