A Brookfield man was charged Wednesday night after allegedly threatening his former roommate with a machete and taking his television set and a small amount of money, according to police reports.

Charles Taylor, 28, of the 4700 block of East 2000th Avenue, Montrose, was charged with robbery, aggravated assault and unlawful use of a weapon by Lisle police after his arrest in Brookfield at about 11:28 p.m.

The Brookfield Police Department was notified by Lisle police that they were looking for a man with ties to Brookfield as the suspect in their robbery case. Lisle police said they had positively identified Taylor as the suspect in their case and believed he could be headed to his sister's home in Brookfield. Brookfield police officers waited outside a home in the 3100 block of Vernon Avenue to see if he would arrive.

When Taylor arrived, Brookfield police conducted a traffic stop and held Taylor for transfer to Lisle police custody.

According to a news release from Lisle police, Taylor was angry at a former roommate who allegedly owed him money. Taylor went to a home in the 9100 block of Spencer Avenue in Lisle and used a machete to threaten the victim before taking a TV set and a small amount of cash.

After being charged, Taylor was transported to DuPage County Jail to await a bond hearing.
