HONOR 2014 Moving Wall Ceremony to be held in Berwyn Thursday

BERWYN – The opening ceremony for HONOR 2014, The Moving Wall memorial, will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at Proksa Park, 3001 S. Wisconsin Ave.

Medal of Honor recipient Staff Sgt. Ryan M. Pitts, U.S. Army, will attend and speak at the ceremony.

Other attendees include Major General James Mukoyama US Army, retired; ESGR Illinois Chairman Colonel Ron Bacci US Army, retired; U.S. Army Color Guards, the Illinois Air Guard Band; JROTC cadets from Steinmetz College Prep and Shurz High Schools; the Combined Veterans of Berwyn; and the Band of Brothers Bagpipers, which is made up of local fire fighters.

A Presentation of Wreaths and the Lighting of the Eternal Flame will be a part of the opening ceremony.

The Moving Wall is a half-size replica of the famous Washington D.C. Vietnam Veterans Memorial. The Moving Wall aims to give an opportunity for all to see the monument, if they are unable to travel to Washington D.C.
