BOLINGBROOK – Whether it is to listen to a band, chat about a classic car or play Bingo, one upcoming Bolingbrook event will offer a variety of activities for all ages.

The 2014 Bolingbrook Jubilee will be held this weekend on the grounds around the Village of Bolingbrook Town Center, 375 W. Briarcliff Road.

“I just love the event,” said Joe Gross, vice chair of the Village of Bolingbrook Civic and Cultural Affairs Commission. “There is always something to do for someone – it’s not just for one type of person.”

The free event, which is sponsored by the Jaycees and the Village of Bolingbrook, will host a variety of bands, including cover band ARRA, electric violinist group The CoverGirls and The Buckingham’s. The event will also feature a carnival, Bingo tent, craft show, classic car show and Family Fun Day. Food and beverages will also be available.

Gross said Family Fun Day, which will take place from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, will feature children’s crafts, inflatable bounce houses, balloon sculpting and a petting zoo.

The Bolingbrook Jubilee began in 1990 in celebration of the village’s 25th year of incorporation, said Gross, who has been involved in the Civic and Cultural Affairs Commission for about 20 years.

It was originally a part of the Pathways Fest, but then became its own event when the Pathway Parade was moved to September, Gross added.

Gross expects 5,000 to 15,000 people to attend the event, adding that the attendance level depends on the weather.

No outside food or drink will be allowed into the event, and no pets will be allowed, except for assistance dogs to people with disabilities.
