Carol Stream sees decreased home sales for June 2014

CAROL STREAM – The number of detached single-family houses sold during June 2014 in Carol Stream decreased by about 9 percent compared to June 2013, according to a report from the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors.

In June 2014, 29 homes were sold, compared to three more the previous year, numbers show.

Surrounding suburbs, including Bloomingdale and Glendale Heights, experienced similar sale trends.

Sales in Bloomingdale decreased by 10 percent in June 2014 compared to June 2013 from 20 homes to 18, according to the report. In Glendale Heights, home sales decreased by about 38 percent between the same time periods, going from 24 homes sold to 15.

While sales decreased in Carol Stream and Glendale Heights, the median sale prices of the homes sold increased, numbers show.

The median sale price of the Carol Stream homes sold in June 2014 increased by about 6 percent compared to June 2013, jumping from $215,000 to $228,000, according to the report. In Glendale Heights, the median sale price increased by about 18 percent from $157,500 to $186,000.

However, the price of homes sold in Bloomingdale decreased by about 12 percent, falling from $361,450 to $317,250, numbers show.
