THUMBS UP: The used book sale this week at First Church of Lombard will fund several scholarships, including one for a Willowbrook High School student and another for a local woman going back to school. The Lombard Area American Association of University Women event continues from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. It's a chance to grab a good book for a great cause.

THUMBS UP: It's your birthday, Villa Park – and this is no ordinary celebration. The village has come a long way since being incorporated a century ago in 1914. Friday marks the official centennial anniversary, but the party lasts all weekend. Happy 100th birthday and have fun this weekend.
