Danny Spinuzza held a fundraiser basketball camp July 25 to raise money for pancreatic cancer research and awareness.

Thumbs up to recent Downers Grove South High School Graduate Danny Spinuzza for organizing a weeklong youth basketball camp during the week of July 22. Spinuzza, a former Mustangs guard who will play basketball at Triton College this fall, lost his mother to pancreatic cancer when he was 10. To honor her memory and assist the fight against the disease, the 18-year-old donated all the raised funds to pancreatic cancer research. Selfless, touching gestures like Spinuzza's are what make Downers Grove a wonderful community.

Thank you to Pam Kellam and Paul Giagnorio for four wonderful years as owners of Scarletti's Italian Kitchen. After opening the popular downtown eatery in December 2010, the husband and wife owners closed the doors for good in June, explaining they want to spend more quality time together. Although the fine Italian fare and pizzas will be missed, we wish you the best and are looking forward to the new business that moves into that prime piece of real estate.
