GLEN ELLYN – Both the number of home sales and the median home price in Glen Ellyn rose in June compared to the previous month, according to data from the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors.
The number of homes sold in June was 56 and the number sold in May was 44, the organization stated. Both are down compared to the number of homes sold in June 2013, which was 83.
The median home price in June was $485,750, which is a 31.8 percent increase from the May median price of $368,500, according to the data. June's price is also higher than the June 2013 median price of $449,500.
Year-to-year, the median home price rose despite the number of homes being sold falling.
"It seems like there's a higher demand than there is a supply," said Managing Broker Lisa Cleaver of RE/MAX Suburban in Glen Ellyn.
Cleaver said she expects sales and prices to stay strong due to low interest rates.
