Wheaton townhouse uninhabitable after fire

WHEATON – The Wheaton Fire Department responded to a townhouse fire in the 1500 block of Brittany Court about 11 p.m. Friday.

As crews arrived, the fire was identified in a second-floor bedroom and brought under control within minutes, according to a press release.

The townhouse, 1573 Brittany Court, is in a building with six additional units. All occupants were evacuated safely.

One resident of the townhouse was treated for a minor injury and released on the scene.

Although the townhouse is uninhabitable, the residents were able to re-occupy available residences.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time although it does not seem to be suspicious, according to a press release.

Several fire departments from neighboring communities were on scene as well.
