Deadline for Riverside Township assessed valuation appeals is approaching

Published: Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014 4:28 p.m. CST

Property owners in Riverside Township have until Sept. 2 to file an appeal of their assessed valuation with the Cook County Board of Review, according to a news release from the Riverside Township Assessor.

Staff with the assessor's office are available to help taxpayers determine the best reason for filing an appeal, to find comparable properties and to complete the appropriate forms.

Taxpayers can also file online at www.cookcountyboardofreview.com.

To help, Cook County Board of Review Commissioner Dan Patlak and Riverside Township Assessor Fran Sitkiewicz are co-sponsoring a seminar Aug. 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the North Riverside Village Commons, 2401 Des Plaines Ave. The seminar will educate taxpayers on how to file an appeal.

Attendees of the seminar are asked to bring a copy of their most recent property tax bill.

During the appeal period, the assessor's office will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, as well as by appointment.
