The DuPage Training Academy Wildcats Navy 16U baseball team won back-to-back tournaments in July as part of a stellar summer season.

Playing at the Top Prospect College Tournament at Illinois State University starting on July 11, the squad posted a 4-0 record and walked away from the highly-regarded 40-team tournament as the champions.

The Wildcats kept the hot streak going the next weekend at the 35-team Butler University Midwest Championship 16U tournament in Indianapolis. The team outscored opponents 37-7 in pool play to go 4-0 and earn a top seed in bracket play. It was the highest run differential for any team in the pool play portion of the tournament.

DTA was one of the final eight teams playing in Indianapolis and made it to the championship game with 13-0 and 4-3 wins. Trailing by three runs and down to their final two outs in the final, the Wildcats tied the game and had the bases loaded with two outs when Phillip Schlitter singled home the game-winning run for a 7-6 victory against Team Acceleration.

The team featured players from Glen Ellyn, Wheaton and Carol Steam as well as Bartlett, Batavia, Geneva, Roselle, St. Charles and Sycamore.
