Lake in the Hills motorist arrested after Crystal Lake crash with bicyclist

CRYSTAL LAKE – A Lake in the Hills man was arrested for driving with a suspended license after a he was involved in a crash with a bicyclist in Crystal Lake.

Emergency crews responded to an accident report at 5 p.m. Wednesday on Miller Road at Heaven's Gate, the southern border of Crystal Lake, according to a press release from the Crystal Lake Police Department.

Bicyclist Kevin R. Young, 28, last known address in Arlington Heights, was immediately transported by an Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Rescue amulance to Sherman Hospital in Elgin. Injuries were said to be serous but not believed life-threatening, according to the release.

The release further states it was determind Young had been travelling eastbound on a bike on Miller Road at Heaven's Gate. Jacob Regul, 30, of Lake in the Hills, was travelling westbound in a Chevrolet Trailblazer when he attempted to turn left onto Heaven's Gate. The two collided within the intersection, the release says.

Regul was not injured in the crash, but was arrested by Crystal Lake Police for driving while license suspended, a Class A misdemeanor, and also was cited for failure to yield when turning left, a petty offense.

Miller Road was closed to all vehicular traffic from the time of the crash until roughly 7:45 p.m., according to the release.

The incident remains under investigation by the Crystal Lake Police Department.
