Carol Stream police to conduct roadside check

CAROL STREAM – The Carol Stream Police Department will conduct a roadside safety checkpoint Aug. 8 as part of a grant from the National Highway Safety Administration and Illinois Department of Transportation.

From 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., officers will remove impaired drivers and unsafe vehicles from the highway by slowing traffic and stopping cars at predetermined intervals.

These checkpoints have proven to be a huge factor in preventing impaired driving, according to a Police Department news release.
