Barrington man identified as Chicago gunman

BARRINGTON – A gunman, who fired shots in a 17th floor, high-rise office at 231 S. LaSalle Street, downtown Chicago, has been identified as a Barrington resident.

Anthony DeFrances, 60, of Barrington, shot ArrowStream CEO Steven LaVoie, 54, in his stomach and head about 9:50 a.m. Thursday before taking his own life, according to media reports.

Police said DeFrances was pronounced dead on the scene. The victim was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
