Rehan Tariq of Downers Grove helps Aiken Thompson of Downers Grove with zipper techniques July 22 while volunteering at Charlie's Gift Autism Center.

Thumbs up to the Community House and it's newest program, Charlie's Gift Autism Center. The center provides physical and occupational therapy, as well as behavioral therapy and several other services to children with autism spectrum disorder and their families. It is not only a place for children to create friendships, personal connections and develop social skills, Charlie's gift is also a program that is aided by the service of its volunteers. Summer is the perfect season to volunteer a day, week or month of your free time and The Community House is one of the several organizations that constantly strives to make a difference in the area.

Thumbs up to Oak Brook Park District lifeguard Katie Klemp for receiving the Golden Guard Award from aquatic safety and risk management consultants the Jeff Ellis & Associates, Inc. The 19-year-old is the second Oak Brook Park District lifeguard to win the honor in the last four months. Hats off the all the staff at the park district for maintaining a safe, fun atmosphere during the hectic summer months.
