Gurnee mall shows ‘strategic’ allliances

GURNEE – Since the opening of its full-price retail wing one year ago, Gurnee Mills has developed key relationships.

Great Lakes Naval Base, Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament and Telemundo Chicago have all joined forces with Gurnee Mills to promote each organization’s commitment to the community.

“These strategic alliances stand as a testament to Gurnee Mills’ successful growth and development over the past year,” said Randy Ebertowski, general manager at Gurnee Mills, in a news release. “More special events, a sponsored children's play area and a dedicated shuttle service have elevated Gurnee Mills’ appeal as a great place to shop, dine and share family time.”

Starting in May of this year, Telemundo Chicago became the official sponsor of Gurnee Mills’ entertainment stage, near Entry G. This alliance kicked off with a first-ever Cinco de Mayo celebration, which received a great response from the community. In addition to community events, the Telemundo Entertainment Stage will feature regular performances by professional and student musical acts, as well as celebrity appearances.

Gurnee Mills and the Great Lakes Naval Base have reignited their relationship to ensure that local service men and women have easy access to enjoy great shopping and dining options. Gurnee Mills’ shuttle runs multiple trips on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, providing free roundtrip service from the Great Lakes Naval Base Visitor’s Center for military personnel and their guests.

Little shoppers continue to enjoy the Chicago-themed children’s play area sponsored by Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament, featuring landmarks such as a six-foot long Michigan Avenue Bridge, 10-foot-tall Willis Tower, six-foot long Chicago hot dog and 15-foot-long Navy Pier. The Simon Kidgits Club at Gurnee Mills and Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament have even co-hosted Knights in Training events, including sword fights, story time and themed games. 

All of this activity centers around the success of Gurnee Mills’ full-price retail wing, which opened during June of 2013.  Anchored by Macy’s, this new wing is also home to a host of other popular retail options, including Bachrach, Buckle, Charming Charlie, Crazy 8, LEGO Brand Retail Store, LOFT, PINK, RUUM American Kid’s Wear, Tilly’s and Z Fine Jewelry.
