Bodewes: New North Riverside library director says hello, announces new services
I am very pleased to introduce myself as the new library director at the North Riverside Public Library. I am extremely grateful to the North Riverside community for the warm welcome I have received and look forward to serving our residents with the enthusiasm and commitment to excellence that they have come to expect from the North Riverside Public Library. As director, my goal is that the library remains a welcoming, enriching and engaging community asset that reflects the needs and values of the North Riverside community. I look forward to working together with the library staff, board and residents to build on the library’s excellent reputation for service. As we move forward, we will continue to promote a culture of outstanding patron service with a knowledgeable staff and dynamic collection. We will also respond to the community’s changing technology needs by evaluating new technologies and by providing a welcoming environment for technological exploration. In these and all things, the feedback of our residents is welcome and I look forward to your partnership and support.
The library is pleased to announce some very exciting additions to our collection over the next few months. In August, the library will launch Zinio, an online, digital newsstand offering multi-user access to popular magazines. Through the library website, patrons of the North Riverside library will have access to complete digital magazines, which can be easily viewed on most internet-enabled devices inside or outside of the library. Zinio brings popular publications to your device, at your convenience, absolutely free. This new service is made possible by the support of the North Riverside Public Library Foundation.
In September, we will be introducing our new Spanish language collection. This collection, made possible by a generous grant from the Illinois State Library, will include popular fiction and non-fiction books in Spanish for adult readers.
There are also some exciting library social events coming soon, so mark these dates on your calendar! On Sept. 19, the North Riverside Library Foundation will be hosting a fundraiser at Forest Lanes Bowling in Lyons that is sure to be a fun and exciting event. The Friends of the Library’s semi-annual book sale returns on Oct. 24 through 26, and will be held at the library. More information about these events is available in our Fall Newsletter and at the library.
We hope to see you at the library soon and be sure to stop by the director’s office to say hello. I look forward to meeting you!
