Traffic crackdown in Campton Hills nets DUI arrest, 63 tickets

CAMPTON HILLS – Village police made one arrest and issued 63 tickets during a recent crackdown on impaired drivers and seat belt law violators, according to a Campton Hills Police Department news release.

The arrest was on a charge of drunken driving, whereas the citations were for violations not specified in the release.

Two outstanding warrant arrests also were made during the campaign, which coincided with Independence Day.

Law enforcement agencies throughout Illinois participated in the effort to get drunken drivers off of the roads and to encourage seat belt use, especially during late-night hours.

Extra emphasis was given to those hours because statistics show that's when the highest number of motorists drink and drive and the fewest buckle up.

The traffic campaign was funded by federal traffic safety funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation's Division of Traffic Safety. It is part of the statewide "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Click It or Ticket" campaigns.
