GLEN ELLYN – The village is making plans to celebrate its new relationship with its French sister city.
Glen Ellyn entered into a partnership in April with Le Bouscat, a town in the Bordeaux region of France.
"We were contacted by some representatives from Le Bouscat, France, a year or so ago," said Justin Keenan, the village's administrative intern and village liaison to the sister city committee.
Since that time, the two towns worked together to reach an agreement on becoming sister cities.
Details are preliminary, and Keenan said the village is working to determine exactly what the partnership will entail.
"We were kind of looking for cultural and education cooperation between both cities," he said.
A delegation of the Le Bouscat mayor, his wife and another official will visit Glen Ellyn in September. The committee is working to come up with events to celebrate the sisterhood.
"We're really working to expand to see what we want to do," Keenan said.
The committee includes business owners, school and library representatives, and the Chamber of Commerce.
