Benedictine public health student receives award

Benedictine University Master of Public Health student Rebecca Carlstrom shows off her award as the "Illinois Public Health Association's Student of the Year," a title she was honored with at the organization's annual Friends of Public Health Dinner on July 8 in Schaumburg.

Carlstrom led a research project to determine community support behind the implementation of a tobacco-free campus at Benedictine, organized a health fair with a local church and participated in a study tracking the legislative outcomes of public health bills in the Illinois General Assembly.

She has maintained a 4.0 grade point average at Benedictine and is vice president of the Master of Public Health Student Advisory Panel.
