LA GRANGE – The National Merit Scholarship Corporation recently announced the last group of high school graduates to receive awards.

In this final list, an additional 1,600 winners were added to the previous 2,500 college-sponsored award recipients announced in May.

Of the newly announced winners, two were former students of Lyons Township High School.

One of the local winners, Ryan W. Chilton, of La Grange, will continue his education at Northwestern University this fall. Chilton plans to study engineering.

The second LT grad to receive a scholarship was John W. Scott. Scott, of La Grange, will study physics at Carleton College.

Through the scholarship, students are awarded anywhere from $500 to $2,000 each academic school year for up to four years of undergraduate studies.
