Keating leaves D-201, board seeks replacement

Morton High School District 201 Board member Joseph Keating has resigned and the district is now accepting applications to fill the vacancy.

The individual selected will serve on the Board until the candidate is elected and seated after the next consolidated school board election April 7, 2015.

Keating did not return calls for comment on his resignation.

Requirements of applicants for the vacancy include being a U.S. citizen, 18 years of age or older and a resident of Illinois and the district for at least one year immediately preceding the appointment. They must also be a registered voter, have no child sex offenses or hold another incompatible public office.

Applicants also must not have a prohibited interest in any contract with the district or hold certain types of prohibited state or federal employment.

Applicants should show familiarity with the board’s policies regarding general duties and responsibilities of a board and a board member, including fiduciary responsibilities, conflict of interest, ethics and gift ban.

Applications may be obtained at the District Office, 5041 W. 31st St., Cicero, or at www.morton201.org.

Completed applications must be turned in by Friday, Aug. 8 to Jeff Pesek, school board president, at the District Office, 5041 W. 31st St., Cicero.
