Thumbs up to the Tivoli Theatre and the Downers Grove Museum for partnering and showcasing "Movie Magic: Celebrating 86 Years of the Tivoli Theatre." The free exhibit – which opened July 11 and closes Dec. 20 – collects artifacts and photographs spanning from when the theatre opened in 1928, to its renovation by Willis Johnson in the '70s and today. If you are looking to escape the elements for a couple hours and learn about a local historical landmark, we recommend you check out this free exhibit.
Thumbs up to Midwestern University and our local first responders for hosting an "active shooter" drill July 11 at the college's Downers Grove campus. It is an unfortunate reality that shootings are part of our culture, but it's refreshing to see organizations taking necessary precautions and ensuring that staff, police and fire are prepared in the event of a school shooting.
