Seven charged in Naperville drug sting
NAPERVILLE – Seven people face felony drug conspiracy and sales charges after a four-month investigation into an alleged drug ring operating out of a Naperville apartment complex, according to a news release from the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office.
Six of the seven are accused of dealing heroin, crack and marijuana, the release stated. They were taken into custody Thursday morning and appeared in bond court Friday.
Bernice Coleman, 53, and Jerome Powell, 61, both of 400 E. Bailey Road, Naperville, are each charged with one count of calculated criminal drug conspiracy, according to the release. Judge Elizabeth Sexton set bond for Coleman and Powell at $1 million.
Tretepfone Pryor, 21, also of 400 E. Bailey Road, and Kortney Martez, 32, 514 Kiowa Drive, Naperville, face one count each of marijuana delivery and were issued a $50,000 bond, the release stated.
Antonio Ervin, 25, 1387 S. Glen Circle, Aurora, received a $300,000 bond and Paris Miller, 19, 23504 W. Winston Ave., Plainfield, was given a $200,000 bond, according to the release. Both are charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
All are scheduled to appear in court July 29.
Additionally, Mack Jones, 56, 1426 S. 10th Ave., Maywood, is charged with one count of calculated criminal drug conspiracy and is expected to appear in bond court in the near future, the release stated.
“Heroin is not just an inner-city problem,” said Special Agent-in-Charge Jack Riley, of the Chicago Field Division of the Drug Enforcement Administration, in the release. “It's here in Naperville and it's in your community, too.”
The investigation surrounding the charges was a coordinated effort between the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office, the Naperville Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Administration, DuPage Metropolitan Enforcement Group, the Illinois State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
It is ongoing and further charges are expected to be filed, according to the release.
