ComEd to trim trees in St. Charles

ST. CHARLES – ComEd will work next week to keep tree branches clear of power lines in northern St. Charles, the city announced Friday in a news release.

Tom Bruhl, electric services manager for St. Charles, said in a written statement that pruning vegetation is important to maintain reliability of electric service, and tree removal is sometimes necessary.

"Branches or vines that interfere, or have potential to interfere, with power lines can create safety hazards or cause power outages," he said.

ComEd is expected to begin the work Monday. The project should be done by July 31, weather permitting.

The work will be done in three areas:

• Throughout the Q Center campus, 1405 N. Fifth Ave.

• South on Fifth Avenue to Delnor Avenue, then to Third Avenue.

• South on Third Avenue to Chestnut Avenue, then to Riverside Avenue.

For information, visit www.comed.com/trees or call 800-334-7661 or contact Bruhl at 630-377-4407, or tbruhl@stcharlesil.gov.
