CICERO – Our Lady of Charity School in Cicero has recognized kindergarten teacher Raquel Roque as one of its exceptional faculty members.
Roque has been teaching kindergarten at Our Lady of Charity since 2012, and said she loves watching her students grow every year.
Roque, originally from the San Francisco area, attended Santa Clara University where she received a degree in English. Following graduation, she participated in a teaching program that brought her to the Chicago area.
In August, she will receive her Master's degree in education from Northwestern University.
This summer, Roque serves as the coordinator for the Cicero Catholic Schools Summer Program. This joint program between OLC and St. Frances of Rome is hosted at Our Lady of Charity and open to all students in the community. Her responsibilities include overseeing enrollment and registration, assigning teachers to classrooms, developing special afternoon activities and coordinating field trips.
Roque taught in the summer program last year and said she believes leadership means setting a good example and a high standard for those around her.
