COUNTRYSIDE – The Countryside Police Department is now accepting applications for its 2014 Citizen's Police Academy.

The free 12-week course will provide participants with an inside view of how the police department operates through informative and interactive programs. Through the class, the department is hoping to open its communication with the community while offering a better understanding of police work.

Classes will begin Aug. 26 and will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. every Tuesday at the police department, 5550 East Ave. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, and live, work or volunteer in Countryside.

Applications can be found online at www.countrysidepolice.org.
