JOLIET – Physicians Immediate Care has scheduled an open house Saturday for its new urgent care clinic at Black Road and Larkin Avenue.
The community open house, which will include breakfast, a clinic tour and free gifts, will be from 9 to 11 a.m. at 800 Larkin Ave., Joliet.
The 3,500-square-foot facility will feature X-ray, lab testing, five exam rooms, a pediatric room and a trauma room for treatment of injuries that are not life-threatening and minor surgical procedures.
The new clinic replaces the group’s former location on 750 Essington Road. The new site will offer more centrally located access to Joliet, Todd Vang, vice president of location strategy and patient insights, said in a previous interview.
The Larkin Avenue clinic opened Monday.
“This location is very easy to find for patients all over Joliet,” said Moha Mehta, a spokeswoman for the company.
The company also operates a clinic at 1360 Houbolt Road in Joliet. The facilities offer an option for people seeking immediate care for various health problems, Mehta said.
“Under the Affordable Care Act, urgent care has become an affordable alternative to the emergency room,” Mehta said. “Patients can walk in and see a doctor or physician’s assistant, and get the same level of care ... with a lower wait time.”
The Larkin clinic expects to see about 800 patients per week, Mehta said.
