WOODSTOCK – A 28-year-old man was found dead Sunday morning in the tent he'd been living in, police say.
Adam Wayne Randall Mee, a transient staying in Woodstock, was discovered by a female acquaintance just after 7 a.m., Woodstock Police Chief Robert Lowen said. Police don't suspect foul play in the incident.
A cause of death wasn't revealed when the McHenry County Coroner's office performed an autopsy on the body Monday morning, according to a news release from the office. The cause of death won't be determined until the coroner receives results of the toxicology.
Mee's last known address was listed in Chicago, but he was "known to this community and has relatives in the area," accourding to the release.
The woman told police that the two had been drinking on the Woodstock Square on Saturday and returned to the tent at about 7 p.m. Saturday night. The tent was located in the woods behind 823 Lake Ave.
The woman went to bed at about 9 p.m., she told police.
"He stayed up a while longer," Lowen said. "She awoke in the morning and found him deceased."
Authorities didn't find evidence of other drugs at the scene, but weren't ruling out the possibility.
Detectives are still investigating the matter, Lowen said.
