ELMHURST – A Book Above recently held an Explore & More event focused on animals.

Animal Bananamal included an opportunity to rescue nine pets with the help of Magnificent Mutts and Ruff Life June 21, according to a news release.

Animal experts visited the store with their four-legged friends to speak about rescued animals, both wildlife and pets.

Children listened to books written about animals and sang along to animal songs.

Attendees also learned about Mayra Bautista, an Elmhurst resident who spoke about her family's rodeo, Rancho Los Agaves, located in Beecher. Her cousins joined her and performed rope tricks to music in the parking lot, the release said.

The next Explore & More event at A Book Above is "Football Fandemonium." It will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 19. Call the store for more information at 630-993-0133.
