DOWNERS GROVE – Downers Grove resident Gail Warwick will be one of several county residents honored with awards by the DuPage Senior Citizens Council this month.
The awards recognized "exceptional individuals and organizations who have given their time and talent to DSCC and the elderly," according to a press release.
“Volunteers are our lifeblood,” Executive Director Marylin Krolak said in a statement. “They not only help provide meals, safety checks, minor home repairs, and yard services, but also help with fundraising efforts.”
More than 1,200 volunteers assist DuPage Senior Citizens Council each year, providing more than 32,000 hours of service.
“Our volunteers provide approximately $736,000 worth of work hours,” she said. “This helps DSCC ensure that we can serve the greatest number of seniors in need in the most cost-effective manner possible.”
Gail Warwick was given the Downers Grove Peace Memorial Manor Site.
The winning volunteers will be recognized at it 14th annual Volunteer Celebration, “Hooked on Volunteering” on July 27.
The event will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Diplomat West in Elmhurst.
The DuPage Senior Citizens Council is a not-for-profit, volunteer-driven organization "dedicated to helping seniors live with safety and dignity."
