Dates announced for inaugural concert and movie series at College of DuPage

GLEN ELLYN – The McAninch Arts Center has announced its inaugural Summer 2014 Starlight Concert Series and Starlight Outdoor Movie Series, according to a College of DuPage news release.

The Starlight Concert Series begins July 18 with a concert by the Chicago-based Beatles tribute band American English.

The July 25 concert will feature jazz guitarist Bobby Broom and the Bobby Broom Trio. The U.K.-based ABBA tribute band, “Abbamania” will take the stage Aug. 1, and the Grammy-nominated The Holmes Brothers will bring an evening of blues and roots music to the stage Aug. 8. 

The New Philharmonic will cap the series with a pops concert of movie and Broadway musical favorites Aug. 15. Admission is free and all performances begin at 7:30 p.m.

The Starlight Movie Series begins July 17, with Pixar’s “Up.” The series continues July 24, with “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial."  “The Blues Brothers” and “Ghostbusters” will complete the series.

Admission is free and all movies begin at 8:30 p.m.

All events take place rain or shine. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early and bring a blanket and picnic to enjoy at the concert. Concessions and beverages will be available for sale on-site. Outside alcohol, coolers and kegs will not be permitted.
