Westmont Park District Superintendent of Parks and Planning Bob Fleck presents plans to the village board in Februsary for building a multipurpose building in Ty Warner Park.

Thumbs up to the Westmont Park District for their continued pursuit of state grants. This past srping, the park district submitted an application for a the Park and Recreational Facility Construction Act (PARC) grant, which would help fund the constrution of a community and arts center in Ty Warner Park. On July 1, the park district turned in its proposal for a rehabbed Wilmette Avenue park in the hopes of receiving an Open Space Land Acquisition and Development grant. We are happy to see that the Westmont Park District is not only focused on impoving our neighborhood parks, but is also considering several modes of project funding.

Congratulations to Advocate Health Care and Good Samaritan Hospital staff for formally announcing a $78 million addition to its Downers Grove building. The three-floor addition features 96 private rooms that will be built above the existing critical care pavilion on the north end of the hospital campus on Highland Avenue. Upon completion in late 2016 or early 2017, all of Good Samaritan Hospital’s existing semi-private rooms will be converted into private rooms, resulting in an all private-room campus.
