VIRGIL – A 50-year-old North Aurora man, who had been critically injured in a two-motorcycle crash June 25, died July 1, the DuPage County Coroner’s Office said.

Steven Wenger died at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital after he was airlifted there from the scene of the crash, according to an obituary listed at Laird Funeral Home’s website.

The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin, with a funeral service to follow the visitation.

Wenger was involved in a crash on Route 64, just west of Meredith Road. Also involved in the crash was Timothy Corbitt, 55, of Elburn, who was treated and released at the scene, Kane County Sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Pat Gengler said. Corbitt was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident in the crash.

Neither motorcyclist was wearing a helmet, Gengler said.

The crash remains under investigation by sheriff’s detectives and members of the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team.
